Course Description:
Covers health support services, such as pharmacy, medical records and diagnostic services as they pertain to the nursing facility. This course discusses the use of basic drug administration terminology, common drug categories, medical reimbursement and diagnostic services and methods of adaption to individual resident. This course is one of 16 required course modules, mandated by the PA State Board of Nursing Home Administrators, that make up the 120-hour Nursing Home Administrator certificate program for those desiring to become a nursing home administrator. This course may be taken as part of the full program or as a standalone for those individuals desiring continuing education units.
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• Demonstrate use of basic drug administration terminology
• Identify basic pharmaceutical requirements of aged residents
• Identify the role of the pharmaceutical consultant and methods of adaption to individual residents

Format: Each module meets via zoom or in person, on Fridays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
