Medical Coding Program

Our Medical Coding workforce development program prepares students for jobs that involve medical billing, coding and claims processing. Medical coding specialists are responsible for translating and sequencing medical documentation into standardized, numerical codes for diagnoses and procedures. This program also prepares students to take AAPC's Certified Professional Coder (CPC) exam. Students do this independently upon successful completion of this program. The blue links below contain all the classes for each cohort. A quick view of all available classes are listed below the blue links, in order of cohort. Jan2027 Cohort: Professional Coding-Zoom (80003) - Class 5 of 5 in Program Sequence

*Prerequisites: Medical Terminology, Anatomy & Physiology & Disease 1, Anatomy & Physiology & Disease 2, and Introduction to Compliance. The professional coding concentration provides students with the knowledge and skills to take the Certified Professional Coding (CPC) exam through the American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC). This course will provide instruction for using ICD-10-CM/PCS and ICD-9 CM coding. In the healthcare arena, specific codes describe diseases, injuries, and procedures.
