ACT 31 Mandated Training for Massage Therapist 2 hr (80248)

Course Overview:

This two-hour course, which meets Act 31 requirements for license renewals, will provide a basic overview of the history of child protection in America, including the key points of the Child Protective Services System. It outlines the elements of child abuse, including the legal definitions for the child, perpetrator, as well as the definitions and indicators or abuse. It explains the obligations of the mandated reporter, how to make a report, protections for those who report and the penalties for failing to report. This interactive course involves lecture, group discussion, knowledge checks and discussion of reporting scenarios. This class is eligible for 2 CEUs. 

Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:

• Define the obligations of the mandated reporter

• Define the indicators of abuse

• Make a report

• Know the difference between child protective service and general protective service

• Define the protections for reporters

• Understand the penalties for failing to report

• Define the legal definitions of child and perpetrator

These requests must be made no less than one calendar day prior to the first class meeting date to be eligible for a full refund of tuition and fees (except for any tuition or fees noted as nonrefundable). Unless otherwise specifically stated or approved, no refund will be issued after a course-start date. We do not issue partial refunds in the event that a student starts a course late or does not complete the course. Online course registration and payments are limited to one per person.
