Course Overview:
This course will meet the PA Certification Board requirements for the 6 hours of Ethics training and 3 hours of Confidentiality training that is required for recertification every two years for the CRS/CFRS credential. This course will cover the basics of the code of ethics expected to be upheld by those who hold the CRS/CFRS credential. During the first 6 hours, the trainer will review the definition of ethics, ethical dilemmas, and the chapters of the CRS/CFRS Code of Ethics handbook. Training participants will also have opportunity to review case scenarios and end with the opportunity to share and discuss first hand experiences that they have experienced while working in the field. The last 3 hours of training will cover Federal and State guidelines. that pertain to substance use disorder confidentiality laws. The trainer will review topics such as 42 CFR Part 2, Act 33 and mandated reporting. Training participants will also review case scenarios to practice identifying appropriate disclosure vs. unethical disclosure
