Course Overview
Discover the full craft of black‑and‑white analogue photography in this popular, hands‑on five‑week course. You’ll learn every step of the process—from understanding exposure and composition to developing your own film, creating contact sheets, and producing high‑quality enlargements in the darkroom.
By the end of the course, you’ll have the confidence and skills to work independently in a darkroom. Students need to bring their own 35mm cameras.
Learning Objectives:
- Demonstrate proper use of camera
- Accurately expose black and white film
- Apply foundational concepts such as composition, contrast, depth of field, and framing
- Independently load, develop, and wash black and white film using darkroom equipment and chemicals
- Demonstrate proper use of darkroom tools and maintains safe handling of chemicals

Students need to bring their own 35mm camera, paper for prints Ilford Multigrade FB Classic Paper (Glossy, 20 x 24), and BH #ILMGF202410S • MFR #1172126. HACC will provide the darkroom equipment and chemicals.
