Birthing Doula (60221)

Course Overview:

This class is being taught at HACC by Nia Rose Nchami, MS, PCD

This is a Pennsylvania-certified doula class. From the beginning, women have been cared for and nurtured as they become mothers. The community would rally around the new family to help guide them through their tender early weeks and months with a new baby. Today, we’ve expanded and professionalized these roles!

Nia Rose Nchami is a CHILDBIRTH EDUCATOR, DOULA, LACTATION COUNSELOR & BIRTH DOULA TRAINER. Nia holds a Master's in Health Science and a Master's of Public Health. Her Bachelor of Science was in Pre-Medical Program/Cell and Molecular Biology. She currently works and teaches with Maternity Care Coalition in Philadelphia, PA. Nia is a Dauphin County native, born and raised in Susquehanna Township. She recognized the need for a local community doula in Dauphin County and wants to offer this education back where her educational roots originated. Nia has been a trained doula since 2019 and since then has been able to support over 75 families. Nia’s approach as a doula is to center education to ensure families have a more supported and improved birthing experience.
