Course Description:
Discusses the dietary department and resident nutrition as they pertain to the nursing facility. Certain topics include quality of care and life, and nutritional problems of the elderly. This course is one of 16 required course modules, mandated by the PA State Board of Nursing Home Administrators, that make up the 120-hour Nursing Home Administrator certificate program for those desiring to become a nursing home administrator. This course may be taken as part of the full program or as a standalone for those individuals desiring continuing education units.
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• Understand the history of the federal long-term care survey, nutrition and the aging process
• Perform a nutritional assessment and discuss quality of care and quality of life for patients
