Course Description:
Covers the role that government plays within health policy, regulation, and reimbursement. Students are able to understand how interactions can occur between nursing home facilities and government. This course is one of 16 required course modules, mandated by the PA State Board of Nursing Home Administrators, that make up the 120-hour Nursing home Administrator certificate program for those desiring to become a nursing home administrator. This course may be taken as part of the full program or as a standalone for those individuals desiring continuing education units.
Upon successful completion of the course the student will be able to:
• Understand the role that government plays within health policy, regulation and reimbursement.
• Understand the interactions between the facility and government
• Identify the differences in service delivery systems as it pertains to the administration of a nursing home.

Format: Each module meets via zoom or in person, on Friday’s from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a one-hour lunch break.
