What can I do as a pre-hospital registered nurse (PHRN) in the workforce?
- In Pennsylvania, a PHRN functions at a level above an advanced emergency medical technician (AEMT). A PHRN is a registered nurse that has additional education, knowledge and skills competency related to the management of emergency medical conditions. PHRNs are certified to practice as EMS providers in Pennsylvania.
What are HACC’s classes like?
- This program serves as an introduction to EMS and the prehospital care of the sick and injured. The PHRN program provides the knowledge and skills required to allow a Registered Nurse (RN) the opportunity to become an advanced level Emergency Medical Services (EMS) provider, functioning in a role similar to a paramedic.
