Course Overview
This six-session course builds on foundational nonprofit knowledge by strengthening the skills needed for effective organizational leadership. Participants will deepen their understanding of nonprofit operations, team leadership, board development, program impact, fundraising strategy, and long-term sustainability. Throughout the course, participants will develop practical tools to improve internal systems, lead people and culture, measure outcomes, and diversify revenue. The course concludes with a focus on strategic leadership and action planning to support continued growth and mission success.
Learning Objectives:
- Assess and strengthen nonprofit operations by identifying effective organizational structures, policies, workflows, and compliance practices that support mission delivery and reduce risk.
- Apply leadership strategies to manage people and teams, including supervising staff and volunteers, delegating responsibilities, fostering accountability, and promoting a healthy organizational culture.
- Develop strategies to improve board performance and governance practices, including recruitment, onboarding, engagement, and accountability.
- Design and evaluate nonprofit programs by using basic tools such as logic models, outcomes, and success indicators to measure impact and inform decision-making.
- Analyze and diversify revenue streams by identifying and applying fundraising strategies across grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and earned income.
- Create a practical action plan for organizational growth and sustainability, incorporating key concepts from operations, leadership, governance, programs, and funding.
