NFPA 470 Hazardous Materials Operations Refresher / PPE Mission Specific (CRN_70760_202790)

This course is designed to be a six (6) hour-long course delivered to you virtually with the Practical Skills being performed virtually by you, recorded by you, and uploaded to this class's Assignments to be reviewed and graded by qualified HazMat instructors. This course follows the Pennsylvania State Fire Academy's IFSTA Hazardous Materials for First Responders, 6th Edition curriculum. Students must possess a certificate of training or professional certification for Hazardous Materials Operations as a prerequisite for this course.

It is required that students have a copy of IFSTA's Hazardous Materials for First Responders, 6th Edition, in their possession for the entirety of this course. You will also need an Emergency Response Guidebook (ERG) to complete objectives in this course. This course will review the content of Chapters Four (4) through Ten (10) and Chapter Thirteen (13).

During this course, you will be responsible for successfully completing with a 70% or higher score, a knowledge check for each chapter, an ERG worksheet, and a final exam; you must also successfully complete practical skills. If you cannot complete these successfully, you will not complete this course and will not receive a certificate of training.

Practical Skills, which you will be performing virtually and will then be reviewed by qualified instructors, are designed to illustrate the psychomotor skills required by NFPA 470, but not all skills required for professional certification are covered in the skills for this course. Individuals who wish to certify to NFPA 470, 2022 Edition of HMO should review the skill sheets in the IFSTA text as well as those listed on the Office of the State Fire Commissioner's website for Hazardous Materials Operations professional certification.
