Course Overview

The purpose of this course is to certify automotive technicians to become Emissions Inspection Technicians. Students will identify, describe and perform a visual and On-Board Diagnostics II vehicle test according to the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Upon successful completion of the EEIC course and a passing score on the final tests, you will have satisfied the class.

Learning Outcomes

1. Upon completion of this course the student should be able to pass the Enhanced Emissions Inspection Inspector Certification test with a minimum score of 80%.

 2. The student should be able to identify the requirements and procedures for vehicle emissions testing for the Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Northern, southern and Lehigh Valley and 42 county Non-I/M Regions.

 3. The student should be able to identify the requirements for an Emissions Inspector Certification and Certified Repair Technician.

 4. The student should be able to identify and describe emissions control components and their function.

 5. The student should be able to describe the advantage of OBD II and its Enhanced Monitors.

Refund Policy

If HACC cancels a course, training, seminar, conference or trip/tour, all paid participants will receive a 100% refund of all tuition and fees. Any student who wishes to drop a course may do so by visiting or calling any of the campus Welcome Centers. These requests must be made no less than one (1) calendar day prior to the first class meeting date to be eligible for a full refund of tuition and fees, except for any tuition or fees noted as nonrefundable. Unless otherwise specifically stated or approved, no refund will be issued after a class start date. We do not issue partial refunds in the event a student starts a class late or does not complete the class. Students receiving Title IV Financial Aid will be subject to the federal regulations regarding withdrawal of classes. Financial Aid eligibility will be recalculated based on dates of participation in financial aid eligible programs.
