Students acquire the skills necessary to properly obtain blood specimens for laboratory testing. Topics include safety procedures, infection control, medical terminology, specimen collection, collection equipment, point-of-care testing, customer service, and the role of the phlebotomist in the health care system. Students are required to perform venipuncture in this class.
